1100 aluminum sheet is known for its superior corrosion resistance,formability,conductivity and high weldability.It is not often used as a high strength or hardness item and used for chemical equipment,decorative trim and heat exchangers. It is nonmagnetic and not heat treatable.

1100 aluminum sheet has very good machinability.Best results are obtained when machining is done with the sheet in hard temper.Carbide tooling is preferred,but high speed steel tooling may also be used.For heavy cuts an oil lubricant should be used otherwise turning may be done dry.It can be hot or cold formed.In the annealed condition, the sheet can be cold worked extensively without an intermediate anneal.It is readily welded by all conventional methods.It does not respond to heat treatment other than to produce the annealed condition.As for hot working,it is readily accomplished if necessary.It is an ideal sheet for cold working because of the good ductility in the annealed temper.
