2A12 5052 5083 6061 6083 7075 Aluminum Sheet for aluminum products are identified by a four-digit numerical system which is administered by the Aluminum Association. The alloys are conveniently divided into eight groups based on their principal alloying element. The first digit identifies the alloy group as follows:

2A12 5052 5083 6061 6083 7075 Aluminum Sheet in the 2xxx, 6xxx and 7xxx groups can be strengthened by a heat treatment process. The aluminum is heat treated by carrying out a solution treatment process, in which the metal is heated to an elevated temperature followed by rapid cooling, then a precipitation hardening process (or “aging” process)
