Because it’s not heat treatable, it has to be strengthened using cold working alone.
5083 Cold Rolled Aluminum Coil highly resistant to attack by both seawater and industrial chemical environments. Its greater corrosion resistance, especially against salt water corrosion, makes it an excellent material for marine and processing applications. 5083 aluminium coil performs well in extremely cold environments without becoming brittle. It is easy to form, stamp and weld.
Alloy 5083 Cold Rolled Aluminum Coil also retains exceptional strength after welding. It has the highest strength of the non-heat treatable alloys but is not recommended for use in temperatures in excess of 65°C.
The most common applications for the 3003 Cold Rolled Aluminum Coil are for fuel tanks, sheet metal work and other types of projects that need a metal that is stronger than the 1100 series aluminum. In some cases, it is used for cooking utensils, refrigerator panels, gas lines, storage tanks, garage doors, builder’s hardware and awning slats.
