The highest strength alloys 6061 T651 t6 aluminum plate  are heat treated and then quickly cooled to room temperature. They are then stretched in order to straighten and relieve any internal stress that may have built up during the rolling and heat-treating.

The plates are then either aged naturally at room temperature or artificially aged in a furnace to achieve the right combination of corrosion resistance and strength. The plate is then trimmed to its required size.

Typical methods of cold working can be used for tapping, cutting, deep drawing, stamping, bending and drilling, among others. It’s best to perform cold working when 6061 aluminums are in the annealed state.
